Wolves Fans Invade Pitch After Burnley Defeat(Video)

Hundreds of Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters have invaded the pitch following a 2-1 defeat to Burnley in the Championship.

Some fans were seen kicking advertising hoardings and scuffling with stewards. Many were then seen running back towards the stands as a group of police officers moved towards them. The defeat leaves Wolves needing to beat Brighton - while hoping Barnsley and Peterborough both lose their final matches - to stay in football's second-tier.

Iniesta says: Bundesliga not necessarily better than La Liga

The Spain international believes it would be a mistake to read too much into the significance of the Blaugrana's beating in Bavaria and Dortmund's mauling of Madrid.

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta insists that this week's Champions League results do not prove that the Bundesliga has overtaken La Liga as the dominant domestic competition in European football.

It has been argued that Bayern Munich's stunning 4-0 rout of the Blaugrana on Tuesday, coupled with Borussia Dortmund's 4-1 demolition of Real Madrid, represents a significant continental power shift; however, Iniesta feels it would be a mistake to read too much into the outcome of two games.

"[Like Bayern], Borussia Dortmund are also in a very good spell but it's not that the Spanish league is below [the Bundesliga]," Iniesta told reporters on Thursday. "It's just that the Germans have outscored their opponents.

"But there are second legs to play and we can try to match those results."

Indeed, despite the one-sided nature of their meeting with Bayern in Bavaria, Iniesta still feels that Barca can, at the very least, salvage some pride at Camp Nou next week.

"We must believe if we are to have a chance," he stated. "Overturning four goals is very difficult, but you have to have the mentality that you must first go and win the game, and then see what might happen.

"We have 90 minutes to try to achieve something very difficult. The result [at the Allianz Arena] was terrible and I'm not saying we're going to do it, but if we are to have a chance, we must play with the conviction that we can.

"They were better than us in every way, and not for lack of attitude or wanting on our path. They outplayed us.

"Let's face it, it hurts but we have to just focus on the second leg at home, trying to adjust as much as possible to get a great result. Even if we go out, we must leave everything on the field."

Iniesta, though, is glad that Barca do not have to dwell on their Bavarian beating for too long, given the Catalans could clinch the Spanish title this weekend should they win at Athletic Bilbao and Atletico Madrid beat the Blancos later in the day.

"After the Champions League, we have had to start thinking about the league, so we have no choice but to get back up and start focusing on clinching the title as soon as possible," he explained.

"And it's never a bad year when you win the league, as it's the most important title.

"It is clear that the Champions League is the most prestigious and it's very difficult to win, but one would be mistaken if they thought that this would be a bad season if we do not win it."

Iniesta admitted, though, that winning Europe's premiere club cup competition could be about to become even more daunting a task, given former Barca boss Pep Guardiola is set to take the helm at Bayern this summer.

"Guardiola is obviously taking over a super team and he will improve them," Iniesta said.

German Giants(Bayern Munich) Announces Gotze signing

Die Roten have confirmed that they have reached an agreement with the Germany international and will meet his buyout clause to complete the move.

Bayern Munich has announced on the club's official website that the team has secured the services of Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund.

The 20-year-old has a contract with BVB until the summer of 2016, but the newly-crowned Bundesliga champion has made it clear that the club is ready to meet Gotze's 37 million euro buyout clause.

"Bayern Munich confirm that the club have reached an agreement with Mario Gotze ahead of a transfer on July 1, 2013. Bayern are willing to match the buyout clause agreed between Borussia Dortmund and Mario Gotze," the Bavarians announced in an official statement.

"Bayern intended to inform Dortmund about the transfer after their Champions League match against Real Madrid."

Dortmund revealed earlier on Tuesday that Gotze had informed the Schwarzgelben that he wants to leave the club for Bayern this summer, even though the Bavarians have not made an official offer as of yet.

"Germany international Mario Gotze and his agent Volker Struth have informed Borussia Dortmund that Gotze wants to use his exit clause and join Bayern Munich," a statement on the official BVB Facebook page reads.

"Sporting director Michael Zorc and head coach Jurgen Klopp ask all the BVB fans to unconditionally support Mario Gotze in the remaining games of the season, in particular in the crucial Champions League semifinal against Real Madrid.

"No official representative of Bayern Munich has contacted Borussia Dortmund about this matter up until today."

Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke has admitted that Gotze's imminent departure is a huge blow for the team, but added that the forward behaved correctly toward the club.

"We are obviously very disappointed, but want to stress that both Mario and his agent's behavior conform to the terms of his contract," commented Watzke.

Guess the German giants are preparing to remain on top.

Champions League Preview: Bayern Munich vs Barcelona

Jupp Heynckes' high-flying side welcome the Blaugrana to the Allianz Arena  Today night for the first leg of a blockbuster semifinal between two European GAINTS.

Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic will miss the Champions League showdown against Barcelona through suspension.

Philippe Lahm, Javi Martinez and Bastian Schweinsteiger should all return to the starting line-up after being rested for Saturday's 6-1 win over Hannover, but long-term injury victims Toni Kroos (groin) and Holger Badstuber (knee) remain absent.

Lionel Messi has handed Barcelona a major boost by returning to full training after missing the last two games with a hamstring strain - though has not been given the all-clear yet.

Defenders Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano (both knee) and Adriano (suspension) are all out so youngster Marc Bartra is likely to partner Gerard Pique in central defense.

Suarez charged by Football Association over Crazy Bite on Ivanovic

Luis Suarez, who has apologized and been fined by Liverpool, bit the Chelsea defender during the 2-2 draw at Anfield on Sunday and faces a suspension for violent conduct.
The Football Association has charged Liverpool forward Luis suarez with violent conduct for his bite on Ivanovic.

The Uruguayan sank his teeth into the defender's arm in the second half of the two sides' 2-2 draw at Anfield, later going on to seal the injury-time equalizer.

The FA confirmed in a statement on its official website that "the incident was not seen by the match officials and has therefore been retrospectively reviewed.

"It is alleged that the conduct of Suarez constitutes violent conduct and it is the FA's contention that the standard punishment of three matches that would otherwise apply is clearly insufficient in these circumstances."

The Liverpool star has until Tuesday evening to appeal, with an independent panel to be brought together on Wednesday to hear the charge.

Suarez has already been fined by his club, which has indicated that it would accept any judgement forthcoming from the FA.

The forward's actions have prompted outrage from fans and pundits, with former PFA chairman Pat Nevin telling Goal.com that the Reds man had "let down his fellow professionals".
